OK imagine a marble, peg board and sheet.

The pegboard are the neural weights, the marble is the input data. and the deformed sheet is the local maxima and minima used to optimize the prediction.

The parameters are the size, weight, shape, texture, wind, and gravity forces on the marble. As the marble drops through the peg board can we get the marble to end up in the same outlet based on the same input. How do we do this?

We input the marble exactly the same way many many times, shifting the location of the pegs each time to see if we can repeatedly get a desired outcome. the arrangement of the pegs that gives us the highest probability of correct output is the weights (peg arrangment) of the neural network.

Obviously this is a very simple visual example used to illustrate a simplified training process. In state-of the art production level algorithms these weight and layers can get very complex.

AI' intelligence is novel because it can adapt our historical experiences and present a future story that is as believable as any other story we encounter with humans.

Stories can be delivered in person, through text, via sound or voice, smell, video, games.

The brain not having any sensory perception itself relies on the senses to deliver the ingredients for a the story to be assembled and inhabited by the brain, That is why changing your context and environment can be so transformative. And once you occupy a new story you then can particiapte in what story you tell yourself, this is critically important. People might say but what if I don't believe it? I would response with that every story you belive is real is told to you, you convince yourself.
